Why doesn't USPS Global Express Mail work for calculated shipping to the UK and other countries?
Why doesn't USPS Global Express Mail work for calculated shipping to the UK and other countries?
Solution
UPDATE: EBay has acknowledged this error given an ETA for resolution sometime in April 2006.
EBay incorrectly omits the USPS Global Express Mail method for UK addresses within its shipping calculator. This is a bug on eBay's side, and is not due in any way to AuctionWagon software.
If USPS Global Express Mail is displayed within the "Shipping, payment details and return policy" section of the auction, it means that eBay has accepted the correct info specified by you and sent via our software. Once there, the responsibility falls into eBay's hands in what to do with that data.
Understandably, some of our customers have expressed considerable frustration in regards to this issue, especially due to the fact that Global Express is the only international USPS service that includes tracking information and is covered by PayPal's seller protection. Some have stated that their reluctant UK buyers have chosen Economy Parcel Post (surface) as a shipment method, only to file for a refund from PayPal after they hadn't received the item weeks later. Economy Parcel Post may take up to 6 weeks to ship to the UK, and has no tracking information. In such cases, PayPal has accepted the buyer's request for a refund!
Our customers have contacted eBay about this matter, who we're told eventually accepted that it is a bug on their part, and that they might currently be "working on it." They also stated that it may be due to mixing USPS and UPS methods as available options, and that perhaps sepcifying USPS as the topmost or "preferred" method may fix the problem.
We recommend that you contact eBay as well. The fact that the item was launched using our software has no bearing on the behavior of their shipping calculator. If shipping has been correctly specified as Worldwide with USPS Global Express as service, then it should appear in their calculator, end of story.
We regret having to channel you elsewhere, but feel that eBay hearing directly from their customers will motivate them to address this issue.
